No, it’s not the same historical Troy city on which Troy movie is based, but it turned out to be a wonderful place to be.
One lazy weekend, it was a nice weather and we just decided to go on a long drive. We quickly packed some snacks, water, soda and off we go. We also packed our swim-wear to stop by at some pool before coming back home.
So, we started from our home and picked the nearest highway to drive-on. Appreciating the lovely weather, some Punjabi songs and us love-birds together with a green scenic view along the road. It was just the place to be. We drove for about 1.5 hours and stopped by at some place to get some coffee. As, we already stopped, I quickly looked for any attractions nearby. And voila, we are in a small city of Troy, in Missouri and it has a state park. Cuivre River State Park with Lake Lincoln in it. This looked a tempting place to enjoy the afternoon. It was just a few miles from our location. We headed towards it and were there in just 10 minutes. We started walking across the park. It was a delight to stroll through the park, truly a nature lover’s paradise.
This park let’s you do so many activities. You can do hiking, backpacking, camping. And Lake Lincoln allows fishing, swimming (lucky we got out swim-wear) and boating. We took our snacks and chairs out, changed into our swim-wear and sat beside the lake. The view was awesome. It was a peaceful place to be with your family.
We steeped inside the lake and enjoyed some peaceful time. Most of the people beside the lake were camping in the state park. Then, at one corner, we saw a little girl shouting happily that she caught a water-snake. She was so happy to have caught it with her bare hands and what an attention-seeker she was. Loves her confidence. I spent rest of my time enjoying the confidence she had. And then a thunderstorm forced all of us to come out of the water. As soon as we were out and changed back, the thunderstorm joke was over and it was sunny again. We decided to have some snacks and then walk around the park.
And like I said earlier, it was a nice place to be. You can totally check this place out if you live anywhere near St. Louis and looking for just a nice stroll or a picnic with kids or even with friends. And of course, this is a perfect place for nature lovers who want to enjoy the peaceful nature by just admiring it or may be reading a book sitting in the middle of greens.
Keep wandering…
